Ms. Edwards,
I know you’re probably not on the website given that school is out but I saw that you put the IB 6th Grade school supply list on the website. What about the rising 7th and 8th graders? Do we just go off of the one on the school website?
Nik:
Yes, the rising 7th and 8th grade students should use the general supply list located on the FMS main page. We made the 6th grade list to distribute early with the entrance package. Hope you are having a great summer!
Thanks,
K. Edwards

Thanks and I’m going to go to fairfield to turn in the Community/Service log to you before August 1 or on August 1.
Hello Mrs. Edwards where do we go to see the 7th grade school suppy list?
for Ib
Lauryn,
You can use the 7th grade school supply list. There is a link in a message on the home section of this web site or on the FMS school site. IB does not have a separate supply list for 7th or 8th grade this year. Hope your having a great summer!
Thanks,
K. Edwards
Hi Mrs Edwards is open house for the 7th graders also
today
At a time, was there ever an IB requirement for thirty C+S hours?
Nya,
Yes, during the first year of IB at FMS there was a 30 hour requirement for Community and Service hours. However, all of the HCPS IB sites met over the summer and decided to change the requirements. For the new school year all HCPS IB sites changed the focus of IB C & S to learning about community then doing service. Ten of the service hours became community class hours. That changes the service component to only 20 hours. The rising 6th grade students cannot begin hours until they learn about community. The rising 7th and 8th grade students can earn hours during the summer. This has also changed this year. Last year you could only get half of your hours over the summer. This year you can earn as many hours of service as you requires; however, you must still do five hours during this school year. Reflections also changed this school year.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
K. Edwards
Ms. Edwards,
My son is in the 6th grade at FMS IB Program. I knew that community service would be a requirement but I wasn’t sure how parents and students would be informed of CS opportunities. I just looked on the IB calendar and noticed that CS hours are due next Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m panicking because, my son has not done any community service yet. I wanted to have him signup for the Evergreen project but I think that is too late because its not until October 27th. What should I do? I don’t want to jeopardize his place in the IB program.
Mrs. Williams,
Your student will not be deducted for not having hours during the first C & S log due date. In fact, students must have service hours completed by May 10 but there is no set number of hours due each log collection date. There is a PPT in the C & S section that explains the C & S requirements. The PPT will help you understand how students receive information. The Evergreen Cemetery Clean Up is a wonderful opportunity to provide service to the community, learn about history, and meet other IB students. The activity is a family event so you are welcome to attend too!
Thanks,
K. Edwards
